SEATTLE SOUNDERS THIS NEXT SEASON

[ssba-buttons]

Seattle Sounders are one of the top dogs and most established teams in the MLS. The team was created in 2007 and have been part of the MLS since 2009, they have won a host of trophies and participated in the playoffs in all of their 9 seasons and it won’t certainly be different this season.

The 2017 season was an amazing one for the Sounders and was only blotted by a defeat to Toronto F.C in the MLS Cup final. They finished 2nd in the Western conference and were simply fantastic in the playoffs blowing away Houston Dynamo in the finals with an aggregate scoreline of 5-0 but came short in the Cup finals, the team is certainly fired up and believe they can go all the way this year. They were very busy in the transfer market, bringing in up to 7 players who we will no doubt improve the team though no prominent names were among.

They have had a rocky start to the season, winning just 1, losing 3 and drawing 1 of their first 5 matches in the league while they were also knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League in the quarterfinals by Guadalajara making it a really nightmarish start. This sole victory came in their last match against Minnesota United with the team producing a lively performance and controlling the game throughout, they are confident they will be back with a long stretch of the campaign still to go and you really can’t doubt a team of their caliber with top performers like Nicolas Lodeiro and Clint Dempsey. The start is not too different to last season when they won only 5 of their first 17 matches before embarking on an amazing 13 games unbeaten run so they will definitely be hoping for same this season and will try to get their act together as soon as possible. Their poor form can also be attributed to injuries and suspensions suffered since the beginning of the season, including four matches in two weeks (three in seven days), so maybe much is being read into their performances because they have been exceptional in their 9 years MLS run winning 22% of the trophies in that period.

One thing is certain they will once again be going for the major trophies and top positions come to the end of the season and who knows this early season setback might be the boost they need to achieve a historic season.
