Pittsburgh Pirates vs LA Dodgers

Pittsburgh Pirates @ LA Dodgers – Nick Kingham v. Alex Wood

The Dodgers are 6-4 in their last 10, and are second in the NL West while the Pirates are 4-6 in their last 10 and second bottom in the NL Central, well, you will be fooled by the stats.

It is the Pirates (40-43) that come with momentum in this one, after seeing off San Diego in their last series, with a Colin Moran, who came up big with a grand slam, alongside a 2 for 4 showing. Elias Diaz and Corey Dickerson each added solo homers to cap off a strong victory.

All the momentum may count for naught, though as the starting pitcher for Pittsburg will be Kingham (3.82 ERA, 35 strikeouts), and the Pirates are 0-4 when he starts, added to the fact that they are 2-8 in their last 10 against the Dodgers (44-39).

Matt Kemp led the charge for the Dodgers as they stopped the bleeding with a 6-4 win against the Rockies, with Puig, Bellinger and Pederson, all playing their part.

It is Alex Wood who will start this one for L.A, and with 81 strikeouts this season and three victories in his last three starts, it is no doubt the Dodgers have a guy they can count on. Not allowing more than two runs in his last four starts also counts for something here, and may well be a telling factor in the game.

The Pirates have consistency issues and going while going with Kingham seems the most likely, it may not lead to anything other than a defeat in the Dodger Stadium come Monday.

The stats may be right after all.
